Energy Healing
What is Energy Healing?
Most complementary therapies work to assist in the re-balancing of the ‘life energy’ of an individual, recognising that blocked or disturbed energy is often the cause of illness or negative symptoms. This energy flows through and around each of us in a very specific way, creating a subtle energy field which informs and gives vitality to our physical form. The energies generated by our emotional and mental states also affect this field. Within the field there are focal points of energy which are known as energy centres or ‘chakras’.
An energy healing practitioner does not claim to heal, but rather to assist (where permitted) in the re-balancing of the energy field of an individual. This is in order that the person’s own life energy can flow freely again and aid the healing process. The practitioner will align to the Source or Spirit of all Life so that energy will flow through him or her, and will offer – but never force – energy, and ask that healing shall be given in accordance with the will of the client’s higher self or soul.
He or she will use her hands at a distance of about 12 inches (30cm) or more from the client’s body to sense the chakras, scan the energy field and allow balance where necessary. The practitioner also benefits from the energy as it flows through him/her.
During a healing session, the client will be asked to sit quietly for about 30 minutes, and most report feeling very relaxed and peaceful. The treatments are offered at intervals of approximately once a week for several weeks.
Healing means ‘to make whole’. Energy Healing is about making whole on and between every level – physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually – so that ultimately the essence or soul of our being can find full expression in our lives.
The first law of Energy Healing states that: “All disease is the result of inhibited soul life. This is true of all forms in all kingdoms. The art of the healer consists in releasing the soul so that its life can flow through the aggregate of organisms which constitute any particular form.” Esoteric Healing by Alice Bailey, page 532
Meditation
Meditation is central to the process of Energy Healing.
Meditation is taught and practiced on the healing courses. Each practitioner and teacher therefore develops a meditation practice of their own. The healing work is done in silence and in a meditative state, and the recipient will often find they become meditative during the process.
Regular meditation can build a greater and deeper awareness. Firstly of the physical body, the emotions and the thoughts. And secondly, awareness of that deeper or higher aspect of ourselves that we may call the higher self or soul and, through that, the intuition and states of higher consciousness. Holding a meditative state enables the healing practitioner to be more aware of the client and to be a channel for healing energies. It also helps to encourage a state of quiet and calm in both parties.
Meditation practice can also be used, both individually and in groups, to invoke the energies of Love and Light for humanity and for our planet.
